This day I am thankful for:
     - Adult children who make you really think hard about what is important in life.
     - Sunshine.
     - Green grass
     - Green trees
     - Tulips
     - Light blue-green paint.
     - Clean bedroom.
     - The community of church.
     - Hard work.
     - Cookies.

Day Five: Forty Days of Gratitude


This day I am thankful for:
     - My flexible administrative assistant, Caitlin.
     - The knowledgeable plumber who stopped the flooding in my basement.
     - How wonderfully generous my administrative assistant is.
     - Tools.
     - Texting.
     - Long distance phone service.
     - My sister, Kara.
     - Affectionate children.
     - Leftovers: turkey, noodles, peas.
     - Too many cookies (also leftovers.)

Day Four: Forty Days of Gratitude

This day I am thankful for:
     - People who will serve on Councils.
     - People who write poems about women who sing at church.
     - Aunts and uncles.
     - Clean sheets.
     - Flowers that bloom in the spring.
     - More rain.
     - Complaining people who remind us not to complain.
     - Forgiveness.
     - Telephones.
     - Hugs.

Day Three: Forty Days of Gratitude



This day I am thankful for:
       - Rain.
       - Umbrellas.
       - Baby ducks that live along the canal I walk and the mother ducks who protect them.
       - Church women who bake cookies.
       - Computers when they work, and for remembering how temporary everything is,
         when they don’t work.
       - People who serve God with their heart, hands, feet, spirits, money, fearlessly.
       - My doggy socks that my niece gave me.
       - Work, even on rainy days when I want to stay in bed with the covers over my head.
       - My dog.  How loving, soft and fun he is.
       - For our human ability to care for each other when those among us are suffering.

Day Two: Forty Days of Gratitude


I am thankful this day for:
     - The work of Rita and Glenn Chapman in the Congo, who put their own safety behind their love 
        and faith and service.
           -  For faithful people who still believe that churches are important and work tirelessly to support 
              the work of spreading the good news of Jesus and his love.
           -  For children who test the limits.
           -  For the grappling we all have to do trying to make our actions match what we say we believe.
           -  For challenging times that make us re-examine what is truly important.
           -  For the Congregation of First Baptist Church a community seeking new ways to make a 
              difference.
           -  For a good husband.
           -  For running water and flush toilets …we take so many things forgranted.
           -  For wonderful Assistants who care and take their work seriously.
           -  For the opportunity to spend forty days giving THANKS.
